An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain site. Any file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have a single page with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log typically shows the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. In some cases you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your website. The info that an access log file features is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the performance of a site, in addition to the web statistics which your server may have generated.

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting account and go to this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you don't require one, you may stop it with simply a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Our advanced website hosting platform will create access logs for every site hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is permitted. All domains and subdomains that you have shall be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we supply with all the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should simply click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You can deactivate this function at any time by following the very same steps. You can find a Download link for each log in the same section of the Control Panel, so you could save the content produced by our system in .txt format with simply a click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been disabled, so you will still be able to see the data that's already been generated.
